SilverChat is a voice-first AI assistant with accessible typography and high-contrast design for older adults.

While AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Deepseek have become mainstream tools, they remain largely inaccessible to seniors due to small fonts, complex interfaces, and lack of consideration for age-related needs. This project envisions creating an AI assistant that older adults can use independently and comfortably.

This project employed a mixed-methods approach combining secondary research, competitive analysis, and primary user testing to inform SilverChat's design decisions. The research was structured in three phases: exploratory research, design development, and validation testing.

Phase 1: Exploratory Research
1.1 Literature Review: Studied age-related visual changes and WCAG accessibility standards.
1.2 Competitive Analysis: Analyzed ChatGPT, Claude, and Google Gemini for accessibility gaps
1.3 Target Audience Analysis: Defined needs of 65+ North American users
Phase 2: Design Development
2.1 Design Principles Establishment: accessibility-first design principles
2.2Typography Hierarchy Research: typography hierarchy (40/28/22/18pt) based on iOS Dynamic Type
2.3 Color Palette Development: Created warm color palette achieving 15.8:1 contrast ratio
Phase 3: Validation Testing
3.1 Prototype Development: with Figma prototype + semi-structured interviews.
3.2 Usability Testing: Navigation, readability assessment, environmental mode testing
**3.3 Data Analysis:**Thematic analysis of qualitative feedback
